As a Global Partner on Youth for the United Nations Post 2015 Development Agenda; we’ve been very active in the consultation process and public awareness of the post 2015 Development Agenda.
The Post 2015 Development Agenda is meant to be the next Agenda following the Millenium Development Goal which will be due by 2015. Development is a process, hence there are stages of activities that do take place before a policy is then designed and made available for implementation.
The fisrt stage of any Development Agenda is Consultation process, where opinions are sought from the general but concerned public. We’ve organised several Consultation process in both Ekiti and Oyo State, we’ve had meetings with Youths and Youths Leaders in such states and also made use of the Mass media (TV and Radio) to orient the public, especially Youths on how they can get involved in the Post 2015 Development Agenda.
Moreover; Our Executive Coordinator/Team Leader, John Oluwadero; was the International Youth Delegate (Nigeria) to the United Nations World Conference on Youth which took place at Comlombo, Sri Lanka (May 2014). The conference was meant to be a platform for Youth Leaders across the World to field in the outcome of their respective Consultation process and also their opinion in the Post 2015 Policy design.
The outcome of the Conference is now available as the Colombo Declaration on Youth whci is meant to be a working document to be used by all UN Member States as a Policy for Mainstreaming Youths in the Post 2015 Development Agenda.
As a Global Partner for the Post 2015 process; BNI has been organising Orientation campaigns, Public awareness and will be Advocating for the implementation of the Colombo Declaration on Youth (as soon as the Post 2015 era is on).
